Product Delivery Manager

What I do at Pinpoint

Hi,

I'm Edd and I'm the Product Delivery Manager at Pinpoint.

What does that entail? Well, I see my job as being made up of 4 main parts.
  1. Make sure we prioritise and deliver the right things
  2. Make sure we deliver those things on time
  3. Make sure everyone in the business knows what and when we'll be delivering, and...
  4. Make sure the things we deliver actually solve the problems we set out to solve
It's a simple mission, but it requires me to work across the entirety of the business, our customer base, and the wider HR-tech market, to ensure we deliver exactly what is needed and that the things we deliver continue to keep Pinpoint at the forefront of the ATS market.

Who am I?

Before I arrived at Pinpoint, I was a veteran of 15 years experience in the live music industry, touring first as a Sound Engineer, and then as a Production Manager; responsible for all the technical and logistical aspects of a show moving around the globe on a daily basis. It was fast-paced, required extremely long hours and often meant working with some extremely difficult personalities, but, I got to tour the world, with 'colleagues' that rank among my closest friends, and I loved every minute of it. But I'm also a father to two young boys, and being away from home for months at a time was getting harder by the day. So when I was forced to take a career break during the COVID-19 pandemic, I started to look at opportunities to use my skills outside of the touring world.

You won't find me using the word "can't" very often. Working as a freelancer, you come to understand that you must be adaptable to almost any situation or risk not being able to put food on the table. There was no good software for production managing large tours, so I learnt to code and built my own. Now I know about software development. I got asked to assist in project managing the opening of a new Premier League football stadium in London, and I had a gap in my calendar, so I did. Now I know how to collaborate on major infrastructure projects. The world of live music stopped for a global pandemic, and Pinpoint needed a Customer Success Manager, so I joined Pinpoint, learned Customer Success, and then lead the CS team for 3 years.

All this to say, I'm flexible, able to adapt quickly to change, and will always push myself to learn new skills, and this has served me well working in a startup. But I'm also decidedly not a robot. When the working week is done, you'll find me on long dog walks with my springer spaniel, Barney, cooking a roast dinner for my family and friends, or just pausing to enjoy the simplest of life's pleasures.

Advice for prospective candidates

My advice for anyone looking to work at Pinpoint is very simple; you need to want to be here. It won't be enough to show up to interview and be capable. We're a startup, and we're bootstrapped, which means we can't always throw money at our challenges to get past them, so there will be times where we all just have to take a deep breath and dig deep to get the job done. We're looking for exceptionally talented people with the appetite for that challenge.

Now, while we ask for the 'get in the trenches' mentality, it's decidedly not a one-way street. Not only do we offer some very compelling benefits, we're also a company where your individual contribution will be recognised and celebrated every step of the way. We also place great importance on helping your personal growth, not only in the context of your career at Pinpoint, but also for the things you want to do after your time with us.

So, do your homework. Look at our website, our insights, our product demos. Get to understand what we're about, and come to interview with that insight ready to tell us how you could play a part in that success.
