Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Intro

This will be a 30-minute conversation with our VP of Talent, Mike.

After getting some context around your background and interest in the role, we’ll dig into a handful of role-specific questions focused on how you work—drawing on past examples, how you think through new or ambiguous situations, and how you’d approach challenges relevant to this role. This isn’t a line-by-line resume walkthrough; it’s about understanding how you operate in a fast-moving, high-ownership startup environment.

We’ll also cover logistics like our hiring process, timeline, compensation, and next steps, and leave time at the end for your questions.
Stage 2

Functional

For the second interview with our Head of Integrations and Senior Integrations Engineer, we'd like to delve deeper into your experiences and skills to ensure a good fit for our team and company goals. Here's what you can expect:

  1. Discussion on Previous Experience: We'll explore your past experiences with integrating software applications, particularly focusing on your involvement with APIs and your role in developing integrations.

  2. Technical Discussion: There will be some technical questions to gauge your proficiency with Ruby on Rails, React, and your ability to work with various APIs. This could involve coding exercises or scenario-based questions.

  3. API Design and Documentation: Given the importance of clear documentation and user-friendly APIs, we'll discuss your approach to API design and documentation. We may ask about your experiences with tools like Postman and your strategies for ensuring high-quality documentation.

  4. Problem-Solving Scenarios: We'll present you with hypothetical integration challenges or scenarios related to our product and ask how you would approach them. This will help us assess your problem-solving skills and how well you can adapt to our specific needs.

  5. Cultural Add: We'll also explore your passion for creating exceptional developer experiences, your ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment, and your willingness to contribute proactively to process improvements.

  6. Questions for Us: Finally, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions about our company culture, team dynamics, and any specific aspects of the role or company that you'd like to know more about.
Stage 3

Technical Assessment

If we hire you, we want you to be successful. So if the interview went well, and we’re all aligned, we’ll ask you to complete a short technical assessment focused on the stack we use here.

We'll provide you with clear written instructions, ensuring not to occupy a significant amount of your time. As a gesture of fairness and respect for your efforts, we will compensate you for your time.

Stage 4

Executive

In the final stage of the process, you'll meet with our CEO, Tom and CTO, Bill. This is an opportunity for you to inquire about Pinpoint's long-term plans, current challenges, and the impactful role you're set to play.

Tom will explore your goals during your time at Pinpoint and assess your ability to thrive in our working environment, emphasizing alignment with our company values.

Finally, this will be your chance to address any lingering questions or concerns you may have regarding the company or your role.
