Where this started

Hundreds of applications. Sixteen places. No tool worth using.

In 2018 our CEO and co-founder Tom Hacquoil was running a coding course in Jersey. Sixteen places, hundreds of applicants, and every applicant tracking system he tried was either too clunky to configure or too basic to be any use. He built a better one with two friends, Bill Rogers and Tom Luce, and that is still the job.

Eight years on we have never made anyone redundant, we bootstrapped to five hundred customers before taking a penny of investment, and more than a thousand organisations now hire on Pinpoint.

Our values

How we work together

01

We move fast

Respecting people means valuing their time. We don't make people wait. We prioritise, get the right stuff done, and support ambitious career growth.

02

We remember to be human

We care about everyone who interacts with us and our product. We treat coworkers, customers, and candidates with respect, and speak with kindness and honesty.

03

We find flexible solutions

We can't win by doing what everyone else does. So we get scrappy, think outside the box, and thrive in ambiguity to get real results.

04

We bring an owner's mindset

We all own a piece of the company. We hold ourselves accountable, use time and money thoughtfully, and keep growing ahead of the company.

Life here

A snapshot of life here

Every Friday

Be the HOFF

Human. Owner's mindset. Fast. Flexible. Say the initials out loud and you get HOFF, so rather than pretend we had not noticed, the weekly award for living them is named after the man himself, David Hasselhoff. The values are not wall art here. They turn up constantly in how people talk about each other's work.

£1,000 a year

A learning budget that does not have to be about work

What people have spent it on recently: a pottery course, powerboat level 2, drum lessons, a first climbing lesson, and one person learning to swim again.

Your first ninety days

Onboarding is a person, not a reading list

Eight sessions with your onboarding buddy are in your calendar before you start. Not your manager, not your mentor, no say in whether you pass probation. That is the point, because it means you can ask them anything. Around it sits a thirty, sixty, and ninety day plan.

On a loop

We ask everyone what would make them leave, and act on the answers

A yearly stay interview with our People lead, a quarterly pulse survey, and a quarterly anonymous survey. Small things get fixed on the spot. The themes go to the leadership team and become projects.

Every quarter

The board pack goes to the whole team

Followed by a live session where anyone can ask the CEO anything, anonymously. Followed by a short survey asking whether that session was worth your time.

Out of hours

We would rather you logged off

Our CTO said it in Slack explicitly, for the avoidance of doubt: working a weekend is never something he asks for or expects. Holiday is unlimited, and the average person here takes five and a half weeks of it. Family, rest, and headspace are important here, and nobody has to perform availability to prove they care.

Before you apply

The honest version

Most careers sites leave this part out. Better you rule yourself out here than four weeks into a process.

What you will probably like

  • Nobody hands you a playbook. You get context, a clear outcome, and the trust to work out the how.
  • Plans, numbers, and reasoning get shared rather than filtered.
  • Ask anyone what they are working on and they can tell you why it matters.
  • When we ask the team what makes this place good, the answer is almost always the other people.

The trade-offs

  • The pace is real and the teams are lean.
  • You will carry more surface area than you would at a company three times our size.
  • Some weeks that is the best thing about the job. Some weeks it is not.
  • Progression is built per team, not as one company ladder, and the newest functions are still writing theirs.

When this is not the right fit

  • You want a defined lane and a queue of tickets waiting for you.
  • You would rather be told what to do than decide it.
  • You would rather sit out the AI shift. Most of our product code is now written with AI and we expect everyone to be using these tools in real work.

Where we work

Everyone here is remote

Remote here does not mean alone. We employ across six countries and two time zone bands, fly teams together about once a quarter, and run a London co-working day every week for anyone who wants one.

Product is not a black box here

Thirty people build Pinpoint for 1,000+ companies, working in ten squads that each own a piece of the product end to end.

The route from noticing something to seeing it shipped is written down, so it works the same whether you sit in Support, Sales, or Implementation.

Every Friday

Building Pinpoint

A written newsletter about what R&D built that week, aimed squarely at people who do not write code. Real numbers, plain English, and a signed note from our CTO.

Every four weeks

The early access demo

Product demos what is about to ship. The whole company is on the invite, not just R&D. Questions asked in that room can even change the product.

All the time

Work shown while it is still warm

Sketches, prototypes, and half-built features go into an open channel for anyone in the business to see. Roadmap changes get announced by a person, including the ones where something slipped.

How we hire

Four stages, and what each one actually covers

The full outline is in every job posting, and our VP of Talent will walk you through the timeline on your first call.

01

Talent conversation

With Talent

This first conversation is about getting to know you and making sure the basics line up. We'll spend time on your motivations, background, and expectations, and ask questions that help us see how you'd thrive in a high growth startup with a complex, evolving product. We'll also look for how your approach aligns with the values that guide how we work at Pinpoint.

We'll align on salary expectations, process, and timeline. And of course, you'll have the chance to ask your first questions and decide if Pinpoint feels like the right environment for you.

02

Functional expertise

With the hiring manager

This stage is a deep dive into your functional expertise. We'll ask you to share real examples from your past experience that show how you've solved problems, built skills, and driven results in areas directly related to the role.

It's also your chance to get under the hood of the role itself: the expectations, the team, and how the work connects to Pinpoint's goals.

03

Skills assessment

A short, role specific project or case study
Paid

This is where you show us how you'd approach real work at Pinpoint. We'll give you clear written instructions and keep the time commitment reasonable. Paying for an assignment is not standard practice and we think it should be, because your time is worth something and it sets the tone for how we will treat you here.

04

Culture and direction

With Tom, our CEO

It's a chance for you to ask questions directly about our culture, vision, and direction, and for both sides to double check that the fit feels right.

AI use

How we use AI (and how we don't)

AI plays a small, supportive role in how we hire. It helps us work efficiently, but it never decides outcomes. Our team reviews every application and makes every hiring decision.

How we use AI today

  • To capture notes during interviews
  • To help improve job descriptions, emails, and scorecards
  • To review applications thoughtfully at scale, never to decide who moves forward

What we expect from you

  • Polishing a resume with AI is fine, as long as it reflects your real experience
  • Any assignment must be your own original thinking
  • No AI-generated answers during live interviews
Good to know

Frequently asked questions

How many interviews will there be?
We keep our process lean, usually three stages, occasionally four. You'll always know exactly what to expect, because we include the process outline in every job posting. In your first conversation, our recruiter walks you through the full timeline.
Is Pinpoint fully remote?
We're a remote-first company and nearly all roles are fully remote. Some roles include occasional in-person time such as team offsites. When that's the case, we'll say so clearly in the job description.
What does unlimited holiday actually mean?
Everyone is encouraged to take real time off. Last year the average was 5.5 weeks. We trust you to manage your energy and take breaks when you need them.
How does AI factor into your hiring process?
AI plays a small, supportive role. It helps us work efficiently, but it never makes decisions. Every application is reviewed by a person, and every hiring decision is made by our team.
I don't see a relevant opening. What should I do?
Register your interest and we'll contact you when a suitable role meeting your criteria comes along.
Worth knowing

Before you hit apply

Recruitment scams

We only ever contact you from an @pinpointhq.com address

We will never ask for payment, bank details, or identity documents before a written offer, and we do not interview over text only chat apps. If something looks off, forward it to careers@pinpointhq.com and we will confirm.

Adjustments

Ask for what you need, at any point

Adjustments such as a different format, a break, or captions. Email careers@pinpointhq.com. It has no bearing on your application and it is not recorded against you.

Your application

A person reads every one

Not a filter, not a score, a person. You will always get an answer, and if you interviewed you will get specific feedback rather than a template. We run this whole process on our own product.

Help us change the way companies hire.

Pinpoint is the most genuine, no-nonsense place I've worked. Leadership is transparent about decisions and brings people on the journey rather than just announcing where you've arrived. Getting buy-in never feels like an uphill battle — people go beyond their remit, knowledge sharing is actively encouraged, and everyone cares about the bigger picture, not just their slice of it.
Julia Caulfield, Operations Manager

A company with a progressive & positive culture that practices what it preaches. Great camaraderie across teams, centred around enjoying fulfilling work & creating a great product.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We believe that diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences enriches our culture, drives innovation, enables us to better serve our customers, and is essential to our success as a company.

Our commitment includes hiring a diverse and representative workforce at all levels of the organization, fostering an inclusive workplace where all dimensions of diversity (both readily visible and not) are fully embraced, and ensuring every employee feels valued, respected, heard, and therefore can reach their full potential.

We recognize that true inclusivity is reflected in everyday interactions and shared expectations, not just in policies. We set clear expectations, benchmark our culture, offer safe space for concerns, feedback, and issues and have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination and harassment.

How we use AI (and how we don’t)

We think it’s important to be transparent about how AI fits into our hiring process so that you know what role it plays, and so you have clear guidance on how to use it yourself.

AI plays a small, supportive role in how we hire. It helps us work more efficiently, but it never decides outcomes. Our team reviews every application and makes every hiring decision.

If you have any questions now or during our interview process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to careers@pinpointhq.com

How we use AI today

  • To capture notes during interviews.
  • To help us improve job descriptions, emails, and interview scorecards.
  • To help us review applications thoughtfully and at scale, never to decide whether someone moves forward or is rejected.

What we expect from you

  • We understand that AI tools can be helpful for polishing a resume or checking grammar. That's completely fine, so long as everything you share accurately reflects your own experience and skills.
  • Should your interview process include an assignment, it's critical that the work you submit is original and represents your own thinking and approach.
  • During live interviews, the use of AI tools to generate or reference answers in real time isn't permitted.
