Research & Development at Pinpoint
A team that moves fast and looks after each other, working on how companies hire.
We're the 30-person product, engineering and design team behind Pinpoint. A small group building something over a thousand companies rely on every day. This is a little about how we work, and who we're looking for.
A remote team, spread across the UK and Europe. The next seat could be yours.

we deploy to production.
A few things we've learned to hold onto.
These habits have served us well. If they sound like you, we should probably talk.
Own it properly.
Each squad has a patch that's theirs outright. We expect them to pour themselves into it, and to work with whoever it takes, across the business, to get it right.
Make it delightful.
Recruiters live in this product all day, so small frictions matter as much as big features. We sweat the details, and we don't call anything finished until we'd happily use it ourselves.
Keep everyone posted.
We'd rather over-share than leave anyone guessing. What we're building, why, and how it's going is shared as it happens, so nobody at Pinpoint ever has to come and ask.
Quick, but never careless.
Moving quickly needn't mean breaking things. We deploy every day, test thoroughly, and guard stability closely. The majority of our code is written with AI now; the thinking behind it still comes from us.
Aim high, together.
You'll find people here quick to help and generous with their time. We also expect a great deal of ourselves and keep asking for more, as individuals and as a team, starting at the top.
Work your way.
Everyone gets things done a little differently, and we'd rather adapt than insist. If something makes you faster or sharper, whether that's a tool or a routine, we'll back it. Most of us live in Claude Code.
Everyone here ships.
Different eyes on the same work. Each of us carries an idea the whole way through, from the first conversation to what it changed.
Product
Product starts with a deep feel for the people who hire, and keeps them front of mind whenever we're choosing what to do next. It never stops asking whether what we built helped, and what ought to follow.
Engineering
Engineering is the knack of building something sturdy enough for thousands of recruiters to lean on all day, and keeping it that way. It's as much judgement as code, and we'd sooner be simple than clever.
Design
Design looks after how all of this feels, guided by a simple belief that the tools people work in should be a genuine joy to use. Good software needs no explaining, so much of the job is knowing what to leave out.
We picked Rails, and we'd pick it again.
Rails suits us. One codebase, one way of doing things, and not much to explain to anyone new, whether that's a colleague or an AI. Keeping things that simple is harder than it looks, and we think it's worth the effort.
Ten small teams, each with a clear brief.
Every squad has a corner of Pinpoint to call its own, and the trust to run it as it sees fit. Colleagues and customers count on each one, and each one can count on the rest of R&D.
Workflow
The heart of the product, from a role being opened to an offer being signed. Its quiet ambition is to give recruiters back their time.
Onboarding
Everything between someone saying yes and a good first day. Tasks, paperwork and the little touches that make starting somewhere new feel easy.
Marketplace
The extras recruiters can reach for when they need them: references, background checks and video interviews, woven into the flow of hiring.
Platform & Reporting
The foundations everything else rests on: who can see what, how a company is shaped, and the reporting that shows how hiring is really going.
Integrations
Making Pinpoint sit comfortably alongside everything else a company runs on, from HR systems to job boards, plus the API that lets others build on us.
AI
AI where it genuinely helps, from a recruiter's copilot to interview notes, built on foundations every squad can use, and always with a person in the loop.
Developer Support
The front door when something isn't right. This squad finds the fault, fixes it properly, and builds the tools that let the rest of the business help themselves.
Technical Success
Hands-on help for the teams closest to customers: careers sites built to a brand, data moved safely, tricky setups untangled, so customers are productive from day one.
Infrastructure
The ground beneath all of it. Servers, pipelines and monitoring kept quietly healthy, so the rest of us can ship every day without holding our breath.
Impact
A small team for when the stakes are high. Impact works directly with a customer who needs something that can't wait, builds it quickly and hands it on with care.
Not much ceremony, plenty of progress.
Every squad runs its own way, but a few rhythms are shared by all of us. Here's roughly what a couple of weeks feel like, wherever in R&D someone sits.
Ship
There's a pace to the place. We ship every day, so the product is always moving and so are we. It's a momentum we're careful to protect.
Reset
Most squads work in fortnights. It's about the right stretch to get something meaningful done and then look up. Customers are never far from what we choose next.
Show
Work gets shown while it's still warm. Sketches, prototypes and half-built features, out in the open for anyone in the business to see. It keeps people in the loop, and it keeps the work alive.
Release
Once a month there's a release the whole of R&D centres itself on. Squads bring what they've finished, then work alongside the rest of the company to get it into customers' hands. We like having something to build towards.
Gather
Fridays come with an audience, for anyone who wants one. Show the team what's new, or the whole company. Nobody has to, and most weeks somebody does.
In the product, and in how we make it.
We use AI to do better work, not to have fewer people doing it. The R&D budget grew by more than 40% this year for exactly that reason.
In the product
AI goes into Pinpoint where it can save a recruiter time or help a candidate along, and nowhere just for show. There's always a person in the loop, and that's by design.
In how we make it
Everyone here has room to work with whatever AI tools suit them, and we compare notes constantly. It's changed what a team this size can take on.
For anyone applying
Interview tasks are paid, and using AI in them is expected rather than frowned on. We're interested in how someone thinks with the tools, not whether they typed every line.
Written by the people who built it.
The internal tools we never used to build
Two problems we knew we should build our way out of, and how we finally did, with a little help from AI.

We're a small team, growing carefully. What someone has done matters to us, and how they go about their work matters more.
Open roles come and go. If this page struck a chord, get in touch, whether there's one advertised or not. We'd rather meet the right person first and work out the role second.
